Holaway is the best school because students learn and have fun at the same time. But the school isn`t what makes it a great place. What makes it be a great place is the people who are in the school because without teachers students would not be able to learn and without students teachers would not be able to teach and if they do not teach they would not get payed. So how I said its not the school the one that makes holaway the best school it’s the people who are in the school and thats why holaway is the best school. I also think that holaway school is the best school because we get to have a program that is really fun you get to choose either cayote press or video journalism. Mr. Creech is the one who teaches that. Mr. Creech has great imagineation he also has lots of cool ideas. When I grow up I want to be just like him. Mr. Creech said we have to pick which one we would like to do and I picked video journalism cause it sounds like fun. Thats why I like holaway school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What makes F.O. Holaway such a great school?  I think this school is great because it's integrated, I think it's really awesome to have our school intergrated because how people from all around the world are coming to our school.  I think its amazing that people from Iraq, Africa, Mexico and even from Argentina are coming to our school.  Which, I think, is better for us because we also get to learn more about their culture.

Holaway also has great teachers like, Mrs. Labuda, Mr. Kreamer, Mrs. Derksen, Mrs. Colvin, and so many other teachers but my favorite writing teacher is Mr. Creech because when I have to do a writing assignment Mr. Creech is always there to help me.

But the bestest part about school is recess and specials.  At recess you can play whatever you want.  You can even bring out a snack if you have one.  But specials is a whole different thing.  Specials is when you get to go to a different place everyday.  The specials are PE, computers, music, art, and library.  My favorite special is PE.  I think it's fun and it keeps your heart going.

But about what I said about everything the most special thing is learning.  Because if you didn't know anything you would have been lost.  And you wouldn't be able to reach your goals.

What makes Holaway a great school is teachers.  teachers are great because they teach us Math and words you don't mean.  second is the princable.  He talkes about kids to be haven be careful on the playgound and be kind to kids.  third is the motitrs help kids to stop fighting and when they get hreat.  fourth is speeach teachers they help you because you need help with your sppch like yourrs and thing you don't make sene.   fith is cafitira ladies they make food for us and it hard for them because there are like 200 of us an it's hard.  finily is spicals those are fun cause they help you learn like music helps you know the notes.  Art makes you know how to draw, pant and how to be a artist, computer is to learn how to tipe, P.E is to know how to be strong and library is to learn how to read.  the greatest is kids.  kids have freinds sometimes they fight but they be friends.  Well that's all I know.  I love Holaway.

F.O. Holaway is a great school because all of the good kids and the wonderful teachers and how good they treat us.  And I really like how they have all of the after school programs and the ones during the day.  Like band, orgastra, and others.  F.O. Holaway is also a great school because the math classes and the teachers that teach them to.  I also like how the people that make our lunch and how they make Holaway a great school.  And to make the kids try to be good because the and white bancwit.  And how the Cioty Cupons that can make people happy "some times."  And maybe you can get prizes which also can make kids happy.  F.O Holaway is also a great school for all the efort the kids and teachers put into the work.  Some times if you go to the Cioty math tales and read the longest you can win a bike.  And how you Mr. Creech alowing us to do this.  And in P.E he keeps us in shape and make us strong and to teach us new things.  And in music because we get so many things to try like play the recorder.  That wahat makes F.O Holaway a great school.

Holaway is a great school because there are some awesome teachers at Holaway.  It is fun because you get to learn some cool stuff.  You get to read funny books in class.  Holaways is also a great school because they have a garden tht has many cool plants, like flower.  I think Holaway is fun because the staff is nice and you get to learn about the world, and how the world was a long time ago.  it is fun to add, subtract and multiply.  They are cool subjects.  There are many fun activities to learn about.  I like learning at school every day of the week.

The first day of school is a rite of passage, like rolling monsoon clouds, cooler evening air and earlier bedtimes. This represents an important moment in your life. It is a fresh new beginning.

The halls of F.O. Holaway have been silent while teachers have prepared for your arrival. With the ringing of the morning bell that will all change. You will be warmly greeted by the smile of your teacher. You will be reunited with friends.

This year we are going to celebrate new challenges. You have potential locked inside of you. I can’t wait to work alongside you as we begin to tap into that potential.

New Teacher Letter

Dear New Teacher,

My name is Maryssa. I am in the 5th grade at Holaway. You are probably scared about being a new teacher. When I was in the 3rd grade we had a new teacher and all of the kids were scared.
We didn’t know her, but a few days later we got over it. We loosened up and then we started to like her. We do DOL, and we switch for math class. Then we come back to this room. Next we do writing.
After that we go to recess. Some of us come back and some go to Mrs. Grimble. When we come back we go to lunch. After lunch we go to specials. Then we get ready to go for the day.
Finally we go home. Some people take the bus. Some will ride or walk home and some will stay for after school programs. I go to an after school program. We do homework. Also we do Power Point.
When the after school program is finished we ride the school bus or walk or ride your bikes or your parents take you home. On the bus we talk about movies or games.

Challenge

The most challenging part of the day for me is writing. Because not all the time can you think of what you want to write about. Sometimes you sit there for ten minutes to think of what you want to write. For me it is hard because I don’t spell right. I don’t put punctuation marks. Pluss I right really sloppy.
There are things that are easy to do. The easiest for me is getting ideas. A reason it is easy for me is because I read a lot. I read mostly fantasy and fiction. So I got really good ideas.
Another good thing for me is writing very long stories because I like to write in all the details in a short story. When I have to make long stories I write and write but I never finish.
Another thing that is hard for me is writing poems because they are hard. Whenever I think I’m done it turns out I have lots of erors. When I try to corect them they are wrong again. So it takes a long time.
So in conclution, in writing I’m going to have eather good days or bad days because I can’t do everything. I can get ideas and write long. But I can’t spell or puntuate.

Do you kinow that the Earth is biggern than you think? There are creatures that we have not seen before and we just give up and say they do not exist. It is like having some glasses hidden in a school and you are looking for them, well try looking for them hidden somewhere on our earth and you don't know the location! It is just the same. NO human on earth knows every animal, every city, every part of the ocean and every part of the sky. Discovering a new animal might be sacry but it does not mean it's a monster. It might be a new species or animal that has been somewhere on earth that you don't know about.

I choose to believe that anything is possible.

Make the World a Better Place (5th grade)

Why pollute the oxygen we are breathing?  Why waste water? Why increase global warming?  We still have a little bit of time to save planet Earth from its end.  Think about it, planet Earth is going to its end if we don't react now humans can go instinct.  Did you know that some fo the coolest cities are not going to exist because of global warming?

Did you know that air pollution helps kill lots of awesome plants?  Factories, carbon dioxide, and carbon monoxide are all helping increase air pollution by destroying the cap that protects us from powerful sun rays.  We can avoid real powerful sun rays and getting sick by air pollution by not throwing trash in the street, not using your car a lot, and clean lakes.

Global warming, what a mess!  Factories, smoke and dust are all helping to increase global warming.  Everything is melting, the poles are going to their end because of global warming.  It the poles melt the water level is going to go up and cities are going to flood like Miami and Venecia.  All of this is happening because of global warming, and global warming is causing earth to be warmer.  If you see a graph of the last century you can see that it gets warmer every year.  You can also see that 2005 was the warmest year in the century.  We, the humans, can avoid all of this by not using your car a lot, not polluting our lakes, rivers, and oceans, and not smoking (if you do).  

I think we should not waste our water because soon the water can waste and we can die of thirst.  You know that there are wars because they want more oil for the country.  Soon if we don't take care of our water there are going to be wars for water.  I recommend that we should not leave the water from the sink running, not take such long showers, and fix all of your water leaks.

If we don't take care of our planet now our kids are going to suffer our consequences.  We, the humans, still have time to save Earth, only if we get our act together.  We can't save our planet if only a little bit of people help, we need everybody to help.  Think about what will happen when humans are instinct, so help us make the world a better place.

Sports (5th grade)

There's a lot of things in the world.  The one I am going to talk about is sports.  Sports changed the world because if there was no sports people would keep eating and get large.  But now you can lose weight, get strong, and get fast.  How?  Well, with all of the drills that every sport has.  These are:  running, speed, strength, agility, and muscle workouts.  Like me.  I'm really athletic and I like playing football more than anything.  I'm good at running and catching or sometimes a good quarterback.  If it wasn't for sports we wouldn't be playing.  Well mostly we would just eat and watch tv and play video games.  They will ruin your life and when you're large you're not able to move.  So luckily sports was invented or we would be lazy.  We always have to workout, get fast, and stay in shape.  Everybody should be athletic and stay healthy.

Change the World (5th grade)

I think changing the world is good for everyone.  I would like to change the world by becoming a Special Ed. teacher.  I would like to be a Special Ed. teacher because I think I can make a difference to all the kids that have a hard time just because they are different.  I don't think that's right!  I mean, we are all human right?  Just because someone does not have the same ability doesn't mean anything at all.  So that's why I and many other people could change the world:  to help those in need.

Environment (4th grade)

Right now, as we speak, much more of our environment is being killed than just eh little amount that should be.  Especially in the rain forests.  Bulldozers are killing our trees to make log houses, paper, cardboard, and other wood or paper products.

They're also killing the beautiful rivers in the rainforest.  But not just the rainforest.  Many cities, towns, and other places too.  This is no joke.  This is really happening!  There are many ways to stop this.

Let's Save the World! (4th grade)

Our world is now sort of like a junkyard because of all the oils and garbage being dumped all over the place.  We really need to improve taking care of the environment.  For instance, picking up garbage around the parks and volunteering at a beach to also pick up trash there.

Another things we can do is instead of driving everywhere we can walk or ride a bike!  The two reasons we need to stop driving so much are:

It pollutes the air AND we all need to exercise more!

Making the World a Better Place (4th Grade)

To make the world a better place I would help people that didn't have houses and sleep on the ground.  I would also help the kids that were sick in the hospital.  I would help the animals that didn't have a home.

I would also ask people if they wanted to work at making the world a better place by cleaning it.

What will be my favorite wish of making the world a better place?  It would be that bad people wouldn't kill the people that didn't do anything to them.

I would also help the world by giving them a better place.  I would also help people by taking them to the hospital so they could get better and be happy.

I would also help the kids at their schools by giving them school supplies.  I would help people by giving them shoes, clothes, and the most important thing--food.

I think that will make the world a much better place.

5th Grade

BOOM!  It was staring at me.  I was looking around to find a way out.  I was scared to death.  I was screaming but no one could hear me.  I pushed everything I saw.  I felt breathing on my arms.  I look to see if I saw anything around me.  I saw nothing.  It was night, exactly 8:00 p.m.  Then I saw a light.  I moved towards it.  It was my cellphone.  I answered it, "Hello?"  I heard breathing on the other end.  I said, "Who is this and what do you want?"  Then I heard screaming on the other end!  I dropped my phone.  It was me screaming.  I asked again, "Who are you?"  No one answered.  I got more scared.  Suddenly I hear someone call me.  It was my dog.
